Summer at Courtyard is a partnership between QVNA, The Courtyard Residents Council, Southwark Development Corporation, Better Tomorrows and The Michaels Organization. This is our fifth year of providing free summer enrichment programming to children from Queen Village, made possible through the contribution of time by volunteers and the generosity of our sponsors and donors.
Volunteering is easy as 1-2-3!
As a volunteer, you can participate just one time, daily, or for any combination of days, times, and activities. Here’s what volunteers need to know and how to sign up.
How the program works:
This six-week program (July 9 – August 15) runs Monday through Thursday at the Courtyard Community Room, 1021 S. 4th Street.
Summer at Courtyard provides a balance between art, music, structured exercise and field trips — but we are most proud of our daily morning reading program, developed to combat the summer slide. Partnering with the Free Library of Philadelphia our library is curated to include appropriate reading materials for each level of comprehension.
Our Program Calendar gives a snapshot of the entire 6 weeks. It’s always up-to-date** so refer to it often: click here.
Each day starts at 8:15am with breakfast. Then the learning and fun begin — check out our daily schedule.
