South Street Parking Pilot Program

In order to improve public safety, the flow of traffic for SSHD businesses, emergency vehicle access, as well as working to address the quality of life for neighboring residents, the South Street Headhouse District, in conjunction the Philadelphia Police Department and the Philadelphia Parking Authority, will initiate Phase 1 of a new pilot parking program this weekend.  Phase 1 pilot parking changes will go into effect this weekend and will be in effect for the rest of the summer and fall.

Phase 1:  In order to create a late night public safety lane, vehicles will not be allowed to park / stop on the North curb lane side of South Street between 2nd and 6th Streets,  from Midnight – 3am, FridaySaturdaySunday.

Please be aware that vehicles parked on the north curb side of the street during these times are subject to removal by the PPA.

Within the next few weeks, Phase 2 will also be implemented which will include:

a) changing Metered Parking Enforcement on South Street from the current 9:00am-10:00pm to a new 11:00am– 12:00am(midnight), and b) relocating the current motorcycle/scooter zone from 436 South Street to 601 South Street.

Please look for street signage changes and help make your patrons aware of these parking modifications.   Please be aware that this is a pilot parking project and may be adjusted based on experience, feedback, and assessment.
