QVNA Safety / Town Watch Committee Mission
Statement:
“We will work with area residents and city officials to monitor and
reduce the incidence of crime in Queen Village, and we will serve
as the liaison between the community and the police in dealing with
public safety issues.”
The QVNA Safety Committee is pleased to announce the recent
formation of an active patrolling Town Watch. We have several walks
a week at various days and times—please find a schedule that works
for you and get to know your neighbors. In addition for patrolling
for crime, we are checking for graffiti, illegal dumping, broken
streetlights, and other quality of life issues. At the end of the
night, we call the problems in to the relevant city services.
There are other ways to participate in Town Watch. If you’re a
dog walker, consider organizing your walk with other dog owners. As
the weather warms up, sit outside on your stoop and take an ‘eyes
and ears’ approach to town watch while getting to know your
neighbors. And remember to report any suspicious activity
immediately to the police. If you notice a quality of life issue,
you don’t need to be a Town Watch member to call it in. Our website
lists the most important city service
contacts. We are looking for volunteers to act as safety captains
for their block by organizing a list serve to enable efficient
dissemination of information regarding crime and quality of life
issues.
We are also looking for volunteers who can attend the monthly
Police District Advisory Council (PDAC) meetings and report to our
committee.
The Safety Committee meets the 3d Thursday of the month at 7:15, just prior to the General Members' Meeting at the Philip Neri Church, on the 200 block of Queen Street.
